New York, November 25, 2025 (LANA) – China’s representative to the UN Security Council stressed the need to respect Libya’s jurisdiction and maintain communication with it regarding the progress of investigations by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the country.
In his remarks during the ICC briefing on Libya to the Security Council on Tuesday, he called for preserving the independence of Libya’s judicial institutions while ensuring close communication with the authorities. He also urged the international community to respect Libya’s sovereignty and support the work of the UN mission without external pressure.
The Chinese representative stated that support must continue to ensure justice in Libya, and that the international community should support strengthening the transitional process, maintaining the ceasefire, and creating a conducive environment for a political settlement.
