Tripoli, 25 November 2025 (Lana)—The head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanna Tetteh, affirmed that the voices and aspirations of the Libyan people form the foundation of the mission's work, emphasizing that their active participation shapes the roadmap and guides the UN's efforts in the country.

This came in a video of Tetteh's remarks, published by the UNSMIL, during an open online meeting held last Thursday with several Libyan citizens to discuss the latest developments in the political process and the roadmap.

In her address to the Libyans, Tetteh said, "We listen and learn from your voices, from your hopes, your anger, your aspirations, and your love for your country. All these feelings shape our work and direction, and you inspire our efforts."

"I have read with concern many of the posts on social media platforms, and I respect the patriotic spirit of many of you. You are rightly the ones defending Libya's sovereignty and unity; your love for your country is not only understandable but also powerful and capable of moving Libya forward. The mission is working in coordination with various Libyan institutions to ensure that the Libyan people are at the center of the political process," she added.
