Al-Trabelsi meets with His Turkish Counterpart.

Tripoli, November 24, 2025 (LANA) – The Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity, Major General Imad Al-Trabelsi, met today in Tripoli with the Turkish Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to strengthen security cooperation between Libya and Turkey.
During the meeting, which was attended by a number of security leaders from the Ministry, they discussed aspects of joint coordination in several areas, including training and qualification programs aimed at developing the capabilities of Libyan Ministry of Interior personnel, in addition to issues related to combating illegal migration, securing borders, and benefiting from Turkish expertise in this field.
Al-Trabelsi stated that the Ministry is making great efforts despite the challenges the country has faced in recent years and their impact on the security situation, emphasizing that work continues to improve performance and that a number of positive results have already been achieved.
He noted that the ministry is giving special attention to the issue of illegal immigration, through direct communication channels with European Union and African countries.
The acting Minister of the Interior affirmed that the security plan adopts a phased approach, beginning with securing the borders, then the desert and cities, and finally the coasts, in addition to implementing a voluntary repatriation program for migrants and pursuing organized criminal gangs involved in human trafficking.
For his part, the Turkish Minister of the Interior praised the efforts exerted by the Libyan Ministry of the Interior, reviewing his country's experience in combating illegal immigration and the positive results achieved in recent years.
