The announcement in Tripoli of the establishment of the (Supreme Authority of Presidencies) to unify national decision-making

Tripoli, November 20, 2025 (LANA) – The Presidential Council, the High Council of State, and the Government of National Unity announced on Thursday in Tripoli the establishment of the "Supreme Authority of the Presidencies," comprising the three presidencies, to operate within a coordinating framework that constitutes the supreme sovereign authority of the country.

In a statement, the Presidential Council said that the formation of the new authority comes within the framework of a shared national approach aimed at unifying national decision-making on strategic issues and strengthening institutional harmony among the authorities.

It added that the new authority will be responsible for developing a unified methodology for national decision-making, coordinating official positions on political, economic, and security issues, and working to formulate joint policies that preserve Libya's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political, social, and economic stability without creating any additional entities or new structural burdens.

The three presidencies affirmed in their founding meeting that the establishment of the authority comes in response to the requirements of the current stage and embodies a commitment to overcoming divisions and working in a spirit of national responsibility.

The authority called on other sovereign institutions to join this coordinating process in order to enhance stability and protect the sovereignty and supreme interests of the state.

For its part, the Government of National Unity affirmed that this new formation aims to unify national decision-making on strategic issues and enhance coordination among institutions without creating any new entity or structural burdens, through regular and emergency meetings to determine common positions and unify official policies of the Libyan state.
