Tripoli, November 16, 2025 (LANA) – The "Islamic Banking in Libya: Between Reality and Areas of Development" conference began this morning in Tripoli. Sponsored by the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research, the conference is being attended by a number of academics, bankers, experts, and legislators.
Several speeches were delivered during the conference, emphasizing the importance of this specialized event and its outcomes in shaping future economic and financial policies in Libya. Speakers called on the Authority to support research that promotes economic and financial development in the country.
The two-day conference aims to evaluate current systems and legislation, exchange experiences, discuss the reality of Islamic banking in Libya, analyze the challenges and opportunities it faces, and assess its suitability for transitioning to an Islamic banking system. It will also explore the role of innovation and financial technology (FinTech) in developing Islamic banking services.
