Al-Baour meets with the president of the UN HRC in Geneva.

Geneva, 13 November 2025 (Lana) Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, met yesterday with the President of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), Jörg Lauber, on the sidelines of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) session being held at the UN Office in Geneva.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between Libya and the HRC in support of national efforts aimed at promoting and protecting human rights and to continue positive engagement with the Council's mechanisms and relevant UN bodies.
Al-Baour expressed Libya's appreciation for the important role of the Council in promoting the principles of justice and equality, emphasizing the Government of National Unity's commitment to implementing relevant international recommendations and to continuing constructive cooperation with the UN through dialogue based on mutual respect and effective partnership.
For his part, Lauber welcomed Libya's participation in the current session, commending its comprehensive presentation and clear efforts in the area of promoting human rights and international cooperation, and stressing the Council's readiness to continue supporting Libya in its endeavors to achieve development and stability.
During the meeting, the importance of continuing close consultation and cooperation between the two parties on various issues of common interest was emphasized to serve the goals of the UN and enhance Libya’s standing in international forums.
