Libya elected as first vice-chair of the African Union's Technical Committee on Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons

Addis Ababa, November 12, 2025 (LANA) – Libya was elected today, Wednesday, as First Vice-Chair of the Bureau of the African Union's Specialized Technical Committee on Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.

This occurred during the opening session of the fifth ordinary session of the African Union's Specialized Technical Committee on Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons at the expert level, in preparation for the ministerial meeting to be held on November 13 and 14 in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

Libya is participating with a delegation at the ministerial and expert level, headed by Mohammed Zeidan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Expatriate Affairs and Chairman of the Committee on Irregular Migration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and including members of the Libyan Permanent Mission to the African Union.

The Committee will study a number of issues related to the African Union's policy towards migrants and internally displaced persons.
