The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the resumption of the diplomatic activities of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China from Tripoli.

Tripoli, November 12, 2025 (LANA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation welcomed on Wednesday the resumption of diplomatic activities by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, with its full staff operating from within the capital, Tripoli, after ten years of temporary operations outside the country.

The Ministry affirmed that the resumption of the Chinese Embassy's work represents an important step reflecting the depth of cooperation and friendship between Libya and the People's Republic of China. It also embodies the growing confidence of diplomatic missions in the improved security situation in Tripoli and throughout the country, thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Government of National Unity to restore security and stability.

The Ministry considered this step as one that will enhance direct communication and practical cooperation between the two countries, and create favorable conditions for implementing joint projects in the fields of economy, education, culture, and technology, serving the interests of both friendly nations.

The Ministry also expressed its hope for the resumption of consular services as soon as possible to provide better services and strengthen communication with citizens.

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Libya expressed his government's gratitude to the Libyan government and people, considering the resumption of the embassy's operations a historic moment. He also affirmed the People's Republic of China's commitment to developing its existing strategic partnership with Libya.

He further commended the efforts exerted by various Libyan authorities and their constructive cooperation with the Chinese Embassy, ​​which contributed to creating the appropriate conditions for its return and resumption of operations from within Tripoli.
