Libya reviews its human rights efforts before the United Nations Council in Geneva

Geneva, November 11, 2025 (LANA) - Libya on Tuesday reviewed its national report before the Human Rights Council in Geneva as part of the comprehensive periodic round to review the human rights situation in UN member states.
The Libyan delegation was headed by Al-Taher Al-Baour, charged with running the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and included representatives of the Ministries of Interior, Defense, Social Affairs, Health and Labor, in addition to institutions such as the Higher Committee for Childhood, the Social Solidarity Fund, the Media Content Monitoring Authority, and the National Council for Economic Development.
The report, prepared by a committee of all ministries and government institutions concerned with human rights under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, includes the steps taken by the Government of National Unity to protect and promote human rights in Libya, and includes recommendations that Libya accepted to implement in the third universal periodic review round for the year 2021.
