Al-Dabaiba stressed the need to support the electricity company in its development programs and to finance its vital projects.

Tripoli, November 10, 2025 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba stressed the need to improve the technical and administrative performance of the General Electricity Company and to implement its strategic projects according to the established timelines.

This came during his chairmanship today of the first regular meeting of the General Assembly of the General Electricity Company for 2025, as part of the government's monitoring of the electricity sector's performance, reviewing past achievements, and discussing future development plans.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mohammed Al-Mashay, the General Manager, and members of the General Assembly, the Board of Directors' report was presented, covering the period from its inception to the date of the meeting. The report included key achievements in the areas of generation, transmission, and distribution, as well as a discussion of the measures taken to improve the efficiency of the electrical grid and meet the increasing demand for energy.

The Director General of the General Electricity Company presented a technical report on the company's performance during the current year. This report included current production levels, loss rates, major maintenance and overhaul projects, and existing and future projects, particularly those related to major power plants currently being constructed under contracts with experienced foreign companies. These projects are of strategic importance. The report also covered operational plans prepared for peak winter demand and the auditor's report for previous years, which addressed the company's financial and administrative aspects.

Dabaiba called for efforts to improve the level of electricity services provided to citizens, emphasizing the importance of coordination among various departments to ensure a stable grid throughout the year.

He also affirmed that the electricity sector will remain a top priority for the government due to its vital service and developmental importance. He stressed the government's commitment to supporting the company in its development programs and funding its vital projects to achieve the desired objectives.

Dabaiba urged the adoption of clear accountability mechanisms and implementation monitoring to ensure tangible results in improving the electricity grid across the country.
