Al-Sayeh discusses with the British ambassador the commission's preparations for the municipal council elections

Tripoli, November 5, 2025 (LANA) – The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh, met today, Wednesday, with the British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Reynolds, to discuss the HNEC's preparations for the third round of municipal council elections.

During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the ongoing municipal council elections (third round – 2025), and reviewed the HNEC's readiness to implement its phases according to the highest standards of integrity and transparency. They also discussed ways the international community, including the United Kingdom, can support the HNEC's efforts to strengthen the democratic process in Libya.

For his part, the British Ambassador commended the HNEC's role in managing and organizing the elections, affirming his country's full support for the HNEC's efforts to enhance the electoral process, which he considers a fundamental step towards achieving stability in Libya.

At the end of the meeting, Al-Sayeh expressed his appreciation for the United Kingdom's interest in supporting the HNEC, noting the importance of continued coordination with international partners to ensure successful elections that reflect the will of the Libyan people.
