Arab-American meeting in Cairo to discuss efforts to end the crises in Libya and Sudan

Cairo, November 4, 2025 (LANA) – Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit met Monday evening at the League's headquarters in Cairo with Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs, to discuss the latest developments in the region, particularly the situations in Libya and Sudan.

Gamal Rushdi, the Secretary-General's official spokesperson, stated that the US official presented the American perspective on the Libyan crisis and Washington's efforts to support the political process in Libya, aiming to reach a Libyan-led solution that preserves the country's unity and sovereignty.

Rushdi added that Boulos also provided a detailed overview of US efforts in Sudan, aimed at ending the war, delivering urgent humanitarian aid, and creating the conditions for a Sudanese-led political process. He noted the US position rejecting the escalation and violations in the El Fasher region and Washington's commitment to strengthening stability in Sudan.

The official spokesperson confirmed that Aboul Gheit emphasized the pivotal role of the League of Arab States in supporting efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region, particularly in Libya and Sudan. He also noted the importance of close coordination with international partners to reach sustainable Arab solutions that guarantee the security and stability of the region's peoples.

The spokesperson concluded by stating that both sides affirmed the continuation of coordination and consultation between the League of Arab States and the United States regarding various regional issues, most notably the Libyan crisis and efforts to end the conflict in Sudan.
