The municipality of Misrata emphasizes the need to keep security institutions neutral from any political, ideological, or tribal conflicts.

Misrata, October 29, 2025 (LANA) – The Misrata Municipal Council affirmed its full support for the efforts of the Attorney General, the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Security Directorate, and all security and law enforcement agencies operating within the municipality in carrying out their duties in accordance with the law.

In a statement issued today, Wednesday, regarding the security situation in the municipality, the Council stressed the need to keep security institutions neutral from any political, ideological, or tribal conflicts, and that there is no place in the municipality except for national institutions that serve everyone equally.

The statement clarified that security operations within the municipality fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Misrata Security Directorate, calling on all security and law enforcement agencies to operate under the command of the Director of the Security Directorate and in accordance with the security plan for securing the municipality.

The statement added that the city's security and stability are the highest priority and ultimate goal, and that everyone must bear their responsibilities and place the security of citizens and their property above all else. It also noted that the right to freedom of expression is guaranteed by law, provided it does not infringe upon the rights of others, and that a balance is maintained between duties and rights.

The Misrata Municipal Council urged citizens residing in the city to take the security issue seriously and to work to support and assist in the success of security work, stressing that dialogue and resorting to the law is the only way to maintain social peace and build a state of institutions.
