Tripoli, October 27, 2025 (LANA) – The President and members of the Libyan Council of Elders and Notables affirmed their rejection of the implementation of the law establishing the Constitutional Court, considering it a unilateral decision that violates the principle of consensus between the two councils in accordance with the political agreement.
This came during a meeting held at the headquarters of the High Council of State in Tripoli, attended by Council President Mohamed Takala, his deputies Hassan Habib and Musa Faraj, the Council's Rapporteur, and a number of members of the High Council of State.
Those present considered this decision a unilateral decision that violates the principle of consensus between the two councils in accordance with the political agreement, according to what was published by the Council's media office on its official page.
The attendees noted that the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court invalidated this law due to its negative effects on the unity and stability of the country. They stressed the need to respect this ruling and work to abolish the Constitutional Court, considering it an illegitimate entity that threatens Libya's unity and the independence of its judicial institutions.
