The United Nations Support Mission in Libya urges the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to fulfill their responsibilities without further delay

Tripoli, October 21, 2025 (LANA) – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) urged the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to fulfill their responsibilities and complete the essential steps of the political roadmap without further delay.

This came during discussions held by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya (SRSG) Hanna Tetteh with approximately 40 members of the High Council of State regarding the implementation of the political roadmap.

The members expressed their strong support for the roadmap, considering it the most realistic path toward a comprehensive political solution, according to what the UN mission published on its website.

They also pledged to accelerate practical steps, including completing the restructuring of the High National Elections Commission and moving forward with the necessary amendments to the electoral framework required to enable free and fair elections.
