Tokyo, October 21, 2025 (LANA) – The United Nations and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia agreed on the important role of Libyan institutions in advancing the political roadmap, stressing the need for the Libyan dialogue to achieve common interests among all parties, while ensuring continued coordination of international support for the UN-facilitated political process.
This came during a meeting between UN Special Representative Hannah Tetteh and her Deputy for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Saudi Embassy, Abdullah bin Dakhil Al-Salami. They discussed the Special Representative's recent briefing to the Security Council on October 14 and the political roadmap facilitated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), which aims to support efforts to unify Libyan institutions and hold national elections.
According to a tweet by the UN Mission on its official page, during the meeting, which took place on Monday, Tetteh expressed her deep gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued cooperation and support, as well as its significant efforts to promote peace and development at the regional and global levels.
