Tripoli, October 20, 2025 (LANA) - The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) affirmed that women's political participation is an important priority in its efforts to support the political process in the country.

The mission stated on its website that there is a dedicated track for women's inclusion in the political process, stressing the continued guarantee of their participation throughout the process.

It also stressed the importance of increasing women's participation in elections, both as voters and candidates, through engagement with women's groups and civil society organizations.

The mission stated that it is providing technical support to the Women's Empowerment Unit of the High National Elections Commission, in cooperation with UN Women and the United Nations Development Programme, to enhance women's participation in political life.
