Tripoli, 20 October 2025 (Lana) The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) emphasized its continued close cooperation with the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), with the aim of enhancing its operational readiness and supporting it in gaining Libyans' confidence in the credibility of the electoral process.

On its official page, the mission explained that the commission has legal mechanisms and procedures in place to appeal election results, ensuring transparency and integrity and strengthening the legitimacy of upcoming elections.

UNSMIL emphasized that its support for the commission comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to enhance citizens' confidence in national institutions and their ability to organize inclusive and credible elections that reflect the will of Libyans across the country.

The mission noted that the electoral process is not limited to a single event but rather a cyclical process that requires ongoing monitoring and technical and institutional support, reiterating its commitment to accompanying this process in line with the political roadmap agreed upon under UN auspices.
