Local Government and the German Embassy discuss strengthening partnership to support local development in Libya.

Tripoli, October 16, 2025 (LANA) – The Ministry of Local Government of the Government of National Unity discussed, on Thursday, with the German Embassy in Libya, ways to strengthen partnerships supporting local development programs and projects, within the framework of existing cooperation between the two sides.

This came during a meeting held by the Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Organizational Affairs at the Ministry, Mr. Abdul Salam Al-Qadi, with the official responsible for the International Cooperation and Development Portfolio at the German Embassy in Tripoli.

According to what was published on the Ministry's official website, the meeting discussed several joint cooperation issues, in addition to reviewing the progress of programs and projects implemented by the two sides and the challenges they face, emphasizing the importance of developing and expanding these projects to enhance sustainable development efforts locally.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of expanding areas of cooperation to include digital transformation, urban planning, media, capacity building, and solid and liquid waste management, in addition to developing and implementing training programs and camps aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and developing skills in local communities.

The meeting affirmed the German Embassy's support for the Ministry of Local Government's efforts to develop municipal services and enhance the efficiency of local government institutions, contributing to improving the quality of life and services provided to citizens in various municipalities.
