Tripoli, October 16, 2025 (LANA) – The United Nations and Qatar stressed the importance of strengthening coordination of international efforts to overcome the obstacles hindering the implementation of the political roadmap in Libya, emphasizing the need for continued intra-Libyan dialogue to bring viewpoints closer and achieve stability, peace, and prosperity for the Libyan people.

This came during a meeting held yesterday in Tripoli between the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, Stephanie Khoury, and the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Libya, Khalid Al-Dosari, where the two sides discussed the latest developments in Libya.

According to what was published by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on its official page, the two sides exchanged views on the Security Council session held on October 14, the limited progress so far in implementing the first two steps of the UN-facilitated roadmap, and the ongoing preparations for launching the structured dialogue scheduled for next month.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Khoury expressed her appreciation for the State of Qatar's continued support for the efforts of the United Nations Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), stressing the importance of this support in advancing the political process.
