Al-Lafi receives the British Ambassador to Libya

Tripoli, October 15, 2025 (LANA) – Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received the UK Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, on Wednesday, marking the end of his diplomatic tenure and the end of his official duties in the country.

The Presidential Media Office reported that the meeting reviewed the path of existing cooperation between Libya and the United Kingdom and ways to enhance it in various fields, serving common interests and promoting stability and development in Libya. The latest political and security developments and efforts to support the political process were also discussed.

Al-Lafi expressed his deep appreciation for the role played by Ambassador Longden during his tenure, commending his contributions to strengthening friendly relations, enhancing bilateral cooperation, and his continued support for the political settlement process based on respect for national sovereignty.

He also affirmed the Presidential Council's aspiration to continue and expand the horizons of partnership with the United Kingdom, in a way that enhances stability and serves the interests of the two friendly countries.
