Tripoli, October 15, 2025 (LANA) – The President of the Libyan Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, reviewed, on Wednesday in Tripoli, with the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, and her accompanying delegation, measures to enhance effective oversight of public funds and support the principles of transparency.
During the meeting, the role of the Audit Bureau in enhancing effective oversight of public funds and supporting the principles of transparency, accountability, and combating corruption was discussed. These are essential pillars of good governance that contribute to protecting the state's public resources and improving spending efficiency.
Representatives of the UN mission emphasized the importance of supporting the independence and impartiality of the Bureau, as this has a direct impact on strengthening oversight work and ensuring the objectivity and transparency of its reports.
The mission also expressed its appreciation for the Bureau's efforts in launching the National Anti-Corruption Strategy in partnership with the National Anti-Corruption Authority, which represents a qualitative shift in the process of enhancing transparency and integrity in state institutions.
The two sides discussed the UN envoy's briefing to the UN Security Council, in which she commended the launch of the strategy and affirmed the UN's support for its implementation. In her briefing, she explained that the plan's success depends on political will, strengthening the independence of oversight institutions, and consolidating the principles of transparency and integrity in the management of public funds.
On the sidelines of the visit, Khoury met with a number of members and employees of the Court, offering them moral support and commending their ongoing efforts to develop institutional performance and raise the level of oversight work, according to the Court.
