Tripoli, 14 October 2025 (Lana) US Africa Command (AFRICOM) Deputy Commander Lt. Gen. John Brennan and Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy Jeremy Berndt met in Tripoli with Deputy Defense Minister Abdulsalam Zubi, Chief of Staff Gen. Mohamed Haddad, and Director of Military Intelligence Mahmoud Hamza.

According to the U.S. Embassy, the meeting discussed opportunities to expand the professional development of security forces from all regions of Libya, including through joint training and U.S. support for Libyan efforts to unify military institutions.

“The United States will continue to engage defense leaders in western and eastern Libya. Unity and lasting stability will enable increased prosperity for the Libyan people and their international partners,” the embassy added in a tweet.
