Conclusion of the scientific conference on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the Supreme Court in Libya

Tripoli, October 8, 2025 (LANA) - The Supreme Court concluded its scientific conference in Tripoli on Wednesday, marking the 73rd anniversary of the establishment of the Court and its Constitutional Chambers, under the theme "Principles of the Supreme Court and Unification of Judicial Jurisprudence."
Participants in the two-day conference discussed several topics, including "The Supreme Court and the Text, The Supreme Court and the Principles of Islamic Sharia, The Supreme Court and the Discretionary Power of the Judge, and the Legal Value of the Principles of the Supreme Court."
The conference, attended by specialists in the fields of law and the judiciary, aimed to define the concept of judicial jurisprudence and its governing standards, present research related to the subject of judicial jurisprudence and its impact on achieving judicial security, review the latest legal and judicial principles, highlight the available possibilities for reducing conflicts between judicial jurisprudence and enhancing judicial security, encourage and motivate researchers to study the subject of judicial jurisprudence, exchange experiences, and strengthen ties of cooperation and communication between researchers and conference participants.
The academic papers presented at the conference addressed the Supreme Court and the rules of interpretation, international agreements, court fees in the balance between retention and amendment requirements, international treaties related to individual rights in the Libyan legal system, personal status courts in Libya over seventy years, compensation for divorce in Supreme Court rulings, the legal value of Supreme Court principles, the role of the Supreme Court in protecting rights and freedoms, and the constructive role of the administrative judge.
At the conclusion of the conference, Supreme Court President Counselor Abdullah Abu Rizeza stated that this anniversary is a tribute to the advisors, members of the Court of Cassation, and employees who have reached retirement age. He emphasized that the Court will remain loyal to all who have worked within its jurisdiction and contributed to raising its flag.
He explained that the Court, through its employees, will continue to serve justice, establish legal rules, and establish legal principles in various branches of law and Islamic law, in support of truth and the establishment of justice.
At the closing ceremony, the Supreme Court honored the retired advisors and employees, members of the Court of Cassation, and conference participants in appreciation of their distinguished contributions, generosity, and effort. To achieve the objectives of the court.
