Tripoli, October 8, 2025 (LANA) – The scientific conference on transitional justice, titled "A Human Rights-Based Approach to Achieving Transitional Justice," began at the headquarters of the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies in Tripoli on Wednesday. The conference was attended by Abdullah Al-Lafi, a member of the Presidential Council, and featured a group of academics, researchers, and experts from Libya, sister and friendly countries, as well as representatives of regional and international organizations.

In his opening remarks, Al-Lafi emphasized that justice is not built by force but by right, and that reconciliation is not achieved by coercion but by recognition and fairness. He emphasized that the national reconciliation project represents a national strategic option to restore confidence, unify the voice, and build a state of justice and citizenship.

Al-Lafi reviewed the stages of this process, from the launch of the strategic vision for national reconciliation in 2022 to the preparatory forum in January 2023, which brought Libyans together for the first time on their soil in an atmosphere of dialogue and freedom. He emphasized the establishment of the Libyan Peace Institute as a scientific and advisory tributary to ensure the sustainability of the transitional justice process.

The Vice President praised the academic and national role of the Libyan Academy in hosting this conference, as well as the support of the United Nations, the African Union, the League of Arab States, and friendly countries for the reconciliation process. He emphasized that Libya is confidently moving forward with its comprehensive conference to complete peacebuilding and consolidate the rule of law.
