Tripoli, October 8, 2025 (LANA) - The Chairman of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, stressed the importance of the role played by the Councils of Elders and Notables in supporting national reconciliation efforts and preserving the social fabric. He emphasized the Council's commitment to continuing cooperation and communication with these national components for the benefit and stability of the country.
This came during his meeting today at the Council's headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, with a delegation representing the Council of Elders and Notables from the city of Bani Walid, in the presence of High Council of State members Fathallah Al-Sariri and Khaled Al-Khazmi.
The meeting reviewed the work of the Council of Elders and Notables over the past years, its role in resolving conflicts, mediation efforts, and promoting social peace among various Libyan regions. A number of topics related to the establishment of governorates, the activation of decentralization, and the Local Administration Law were also discussed.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Councils of Elders and Notables and the Supreme Council of State, and to implement the Supreme Council of State's decision regarding the committee for communication with the Councils of Elders and Notables in the regions, thus contributing to strengthening bridges of trust and consultation between official institutions and social components.
