Discussing arrangements for resuming flights between Libya and the UAE

Tripoli, October 8, 2025 (LANA) - The Minister of Transport in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, held a meeting with the envoy of the Civil Aviation Authority in Dubai, Ahmed Taher, to discuss arrangements for resuming flights between Libya and the UAE and enhancing cooperation in the field of civil aviation.
During the meeting, held at Mitiga Airport, the two sides discussed arrangements related to the resumption of flights between the United Arab Emirates and Libyan airports (Mitiga, Misrata, and Benghazi), for the benefit of Emirates Airlines and Flydubai. They also discussed the technical and security aspects necessary for the resumption of regular flights.
It was also agreed that a technical delegation from both companies would visit Libya in the near future to assess field preparations and determine the dates for the resumption of flights.
Before the meeting, the UAE envoy, Ahmed Taher, toured the various facilities at the airport and heard detailed explanations from the airport's director general, the director of the aviation security office at the Civil Aviation Authority, and a number of airport security officials. He praised the efforts made to develop the airport and improve the level of services there.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the UAE envoy honored the Minister of Transport and the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, in appreciation of their efforts in supporting cooperation between the two countries in the field of civil aviation and their commitment to developing the air transport system in Libya.
