Dabaiba and the Italian ambassador discuss strengthening political and economic cooperation and activating joint projects between Libya and Italy.

Tripoli, October 7, 2025 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, discussed on Tuesday with the Ambassador of the Italian Republic, Gianluca Alberini, aspects of cooperation between the two countries on current political and economic issues, and efforts to activate joint projects, thus strengthening partnerships in the fields of development, investment, and services.
The government's media office stated that the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the Libyan political situation and the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
During the meeting, Dabaiba stressed the importance of supporting the national process based on consensus and creating appropriate conditions for holding elections according to agreed-upon legal principles.
According to the media office, he expressed his appreciation for the Italian Senate's ratification of the agreement on the transfer of persons sentenced to custodial sentences between the State of Libya and the Republic of Italy, which was signed in Palermo on September 29, 2023, between Minister of Justice Halima Ibrahim and Italian Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio. He stressed that this step represents a strengthening of judicial and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, the Italian ambassador affirmed his country's keenness to develop cooperation with Libya in various fields and its continued support for efforts aimed at achieving stability and development.
