Libyan-Italian meeting in Rome to discuss combating illegal migration.

Tripoli, 7 October 2025 (Lana): The Libyan Governmental Team of the Rome process held today a meeting with his Italian counterpart to discuss proposed projects in the process of combating illegal migration, within the framework of the commitment of the Government of National Unity to reducing the phenomenon of illegal migration.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said that the Libyan delegation was headed by the Director of the Department of European Affairs, Abu Bakr al-Tawil, and included the coordinator of the government team at the Prime Minister's Office and an expert from the Department of International Law and Treaty Affairs.
The ministry emphasized that Libya and Italy co-chair the Migration and Security Team within the Rome Process, a process launched by a group of countries concerned with migration in Africa, Europe, and Asia during the 2023 summit in Rome.
It is worth noting that this process aims to create development projects in countries of origin and countries affected by illegal migration to reduce the phenomenon.
