Al-Juwaifi reviews support for local development with the United Nations Development Programme.

Tripoli, October 6, 2025 (LANA) – The Minister of Local Government in the Government of National Unity, Abdul Shafie Al-Juwaifi, discussed with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Sophie Kimkhaddza, areas of cooperation between the Ministry and the Programme to support local development in Libya.
The meeting, which was attended by the General Coordinator of the Women Municipal Council Members Forum and a representative of the International Cooperation Office, discussed areas of cooperation between the Ministry and the Programme in urban planning, local revenues, and support for development projects and initiatives targeting women.
The Coordinator of the Women Municipal Council Members also reviewed a number of economic projects that the Programme seeks to work on as part of the Ministry's efforts to support sustainable development.
Sophie Kimkhaddza emphasized the Programme's long-standing partnership with the Ministry of Local Government, praising the government's positive role in developing municipal work and enhancing direct communication between citizens and state institutions.
She also commended the Ministry's role in enhancing women's presence through the Women's Office and its affiliated offices in municipalities, stressing the importance of continuing this cooperation to support sustainable development across Libya, according to the Ministry of Local Government.
