Tripoli, September 4, 2025 (LANA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity announced that four Libyan activists participating in the Steadfastness Flotilla to break the siege on Gaza are scheduled to be released today, Saturday, with efforts continuing to secure the release of the remaining participants within a short period.
The ministry added in a statement that a special plane has been prepared to return them all to Libya immediately upon their release, via the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in coordination with the Libyan Embassy in Amman.
The Foreign Ministry stated that, since the first hours of the interception of the Libyan ship "Omar Al-Mukhtar," participating in the Steadfastness Flotilla, the ministry has begun taking the necessary diplomatic and legal measures to ensure the safety of the participating Libyan citizens and monitor their conditions until their safe return to Libya, in implementation of the instructions of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba.
The Ministry has assigned a team of international lawyers to follow up on the case through approved legal and humanitarian channels. Meanwhile, the Libyan Embassy in Amman is monitoring the case and coordinating arrangements for release and deportation, in continuous communication with the Ministry in Tripoli.
Reports received by the Ministry indicate that all Libyan citizens on board the ship are in good health. They have been interviewed by the defense team and checked on, as part of ongoing monitoring by the relevant Libyan authorities.
At the conclusion of its statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation affirmed Libya's steadfast position in support of the brotherly Palestinian people and their right to freedom and self-determination, reiterating its solidarity with all humanitarian efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of civilians in Palestine.
