Tripoli, October 2, 2025 (LANA) – The High Council of State strongly condemned the attack carried out by the Israeli occupation forces on the "Sumood Flotilla" bound for the Gaza Strip, carrying humanitarian aid. In which a Libyan ship, Omar al-Mukhtar, participated in.
In a statement issued today, the Council affirmed that targeting the Libyan ship constitutes a direct violation of Libya's sovereignty and the dignity of its people. It emphasized that the attack constitutes a crime against humanity and a flagrant violation of international laws that guarantee the protection of civilians and the freedom of humanitarian initiatives.
The Council called on the international community, led by the United Nations and the Security Council, to intervene immediately to release all detainees and ensure unhindered access of aid to those in need in the Gaza Strip.
It also called on international human rights organizations, primarily the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, to document these violations and refer them to the competent international judicial bodies, including the International Criminal Court, considering these acts to constitute war crimes.
The High Council of State reiterated its full solidarity with the Palestinian people and their steadfastness in confronting the occupation, warning that attempts to prevent the delivery of food and medicine constitute a form of internationally prohibited collective punishment.
The Council concluded its statement by calling on Arab and Islamic countries and the international community to take urgent and effective action to protect civilians and lift the unjust blockade of the Gaza Strip.
