Tripoli, October 2, 2025 (LANA) – Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, held a meeting in Tripoli on Thursday with the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Libya, Gian Luca Alberini, which he described as fruitful. During the meeting, ways to strengthen the solid bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, in addition to the latest political and security developments in Libya.

In a tweet following the meeting, Al-Lafi stressed the importance of supporting the political process led by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), as the best way to end the current political stalemate and reach a comprehensive settlement that leads to elections and stability.

The meeting also addressed the issue of illegal immigration, emphasizing the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation to develop effective mechanisms to combat this phenomenon through integrated plans aimed at protecting borders and dismantling smuggling networks.

Al-Lafi indicated that coordination with the Italian side is ongoing within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries, serving the interests of the two friendly peoples and contributing to enhancing security and stability in Libya and the region.
