Minister of Oil meets with German Ambassador.

Tripoli, September 28, 2025 (LANA) – The Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Khalifa Rajab Abdul-Sadig, held a meeting today, Sunday, with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Libya, Ralph Joseph Tarraf, within the framework of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy and energy transition.

According to the official page of the Ministry of Oil, the meeting reviewed the progress made by the Government of National Unity in implementing plans for a fair and sustainable energy transition, particularly through pioneering national initiatives such as the "Energy Generation" program, which seeks to achieve a balanced mix of traditional and renewable energy sources.

During the meeting, the Minister affirmed the Ministry's commitment to an ambitious vision aimed at diversifying Libya's energy sources and achieving an integrated energy mix of oil, gas, and renewable energy sources by 2035. This vision focuses on investing in modern technologies and developing the capabilities of young talent, thus enhancing the optimal utilization of the country's natural resources and contributing to the creation of promising job opportunities.

The meeting also addressed ways to enhance the attractiveness of the business environment in the oil sector, increase production, and gradually reduce gas flaring rates until complete cessation by 2030. It also addressed developing gas industries and expanding export prospects to European markets.

The Minister explained that Libya is open to international investment in the energy sector and seeks to build strategic partnerships that contribute to supporting the stability of the local and international market. He emphasized the country's readiness to effectively utilize its resources to build a strong and sustainable energy future.
