Tripoli, September 27, 2025 (LANA) – The National Authority for Blood Transfusion Services, affiliated with the Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity, launched today, Saturday, in Tripoli, the national project "From My Blood, a Life Print" application. The project also includes the adoption of the Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) virus screening technology for donors, in cooperation with experts from France and the European Union.

Dr. Naji Jibril, Director General of the National Authority for Blood Transfusion Services, told the Libyan News Agency during the celebration held for this occasion that these two projects represent part of the Authority's national strategy aimed at improving blood transfusion services in Libya.

Dr. Jibril explained that the strategy includes raising awareness of the importance of blood donation, developing blood bank services, improving the process of transferring blood from banks to hospitals, and enhancing the handling of blood within hospitals until it reaches patients.

He emphasized that this series of services requires special care and attention, noting that the Authority seeks to build an integrated system that encompasses all stages of blood transfusion, given its significant importance to national security, both in times of peace and war, by ensuring a sufficient supply of blood at all times.

Dr. Naji Jibril pointed out that the success of this system requires concerted national efforts, starting with the government and the Ministry of Health, through the National Authority for Blood Transfusion Services, and extending to all state institutions, including civil society organizations, the private sector, and individuals.

The Director General of the National Authority for Blood Transfusion Services emphasized that the blood supply program affects every citizen and is also linked to global health security, as blood transfused in Libya impacts the global blood system.

During the celebration, several lectures were delivered by experts and specialists in this field. Dr. Naji Jibril gave a lecture titled "Challenges of the National Blood System," while Dr. Abbas Muhammad al-Tahir gave a lecture titled "From My Blood and the Future of Voluntary Donation," in which he reviewed the current state of blood donation services in Libya.
