Algerian and Egyptian Foreign Ministers discuss the political situation in Libya.

New York, September 27, 2025 (LANA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati stressed the importance of regularly holding meetings of the Tripartite Mechanism for Libya's Neighboring Countries, which includes Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia, as this contributes to achieving stability and preserving the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Libya.
This came during a meeting held by Minister Abdel Aati with his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, according to a statement published by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its website.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed developments in Libya, a direct neighbor of Egypt and Algeria. The Egyptian minister emphasized the importance of supporting the Libyan-Libyan solution, leading to simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, and the withdrawal of all foreign forces, mercenaries, and foreign fighters from Libya, in order to fulfill the aspirations of the brotherly Libyan people.
