New York, September 27, 2025 (LANA) - The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, affirmed Libya's full support for the Palestinian people, reiterating his call for an immediate end to the Israeli aggression on Gaza, the lifting of the unjust siege on the Strip, and the fulfillment of the Palestinian aspirations to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
This came in a speech he delivered at the annual coordination meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Al-Baour stated that what is happening in Gaza is not merely an armed conflict, but rather a widespread crime against humanity, committed in full view of the world and exposing the double standards that have become a hallmark of the international system. He emphasized that continued silence on these massacres, or the invocation of political considerations to justify them, constitutes an unacceptable moral failure.
He added that the ongoing aggression against the brotherly Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip by the Zionist occupation forces has left tens of thousands dead and wounded, destroyed residential neighborhoods, and targeted infrastructure, medical, and educational facilities, including those belonging to the United Nations.
Al-Baour stressed the need to halt the Zionist entity's repeated attacks on Syrian territory, as they constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of a member state of this organization.
He strongly condemned the recent statements made by the Zionist entity's Prime Minister regarding the so-called Greater Israel Vision, which constitute a flagrant violation of international law and a direct threat to international peace and security. He called on the international community to take a clear and firm stance against these policies.
Al-Baour pointed to the deeply worrying suffering of Muslim minorities in several non-member states, explaining that Muslims in some parts of the world suffer from marginalization, discrimination, and deprivation of their religious and cultural rights. They are subjected to systematic campaigns targeting their identity and religious affiliation.
In this regard, he called for a renewed commitment to joint Islamic action, strengthening institutions, developing collective tools, and opening up to the world from a position of strength and pride, in order to serve the interests of Islamic peoples and protect their rights.
