Tripoli, September 27, 2025 (LANA) – The European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, congratulated the Libyan Navy on the completion of the first specialized training course for 30 of its personnel, from the cities of Tripoli and Benghazi, within the framework of the European Union's Operation Irini.

Orlando said in a tweet posted on the X platform on Friday evening, "This achievement represents an important step in the partnership between the European Union and Libya, and in our efforts to support the unification of Libyan military institutions on professional foundations, operational capabilities, and unified standards."

The European official expressed his thanks to the Republic of Italy and the Italian Naval Training Center in Taranto for hosting this training program, which is part of European efforts to develop Libyan naval capabilities and enhance their commitment to international standards and maritime law.

The ambassador noted that the European Union, through Operation Irini, will continue to provide intensive training programs in the coming months, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency and professionalism in maritime missions, in support of stability and institution-building in Libya.
