New victims of Hurricane Daniel in Darna identified.

Darna, September 26, 2025 (LANA) - The General Authority for Research and Identification of Missing Persons announced on Thursday the official identification of 18 victims of Hurricane Daniel in the city of Darna. This was after completing all work steps, verifying the results, and approving them by the Authority's scientific committee.

The Authority explained that the details of the identification of unidentified bodies were carried out by the scientific committee, as DNA samples from the victims matched those of their relatives registered in the Authority's database.

The committee approved the DNA matching results obtained by specialized teams, which confirmed the identification of 18 bodies of hurricane victims.

The Authority's chairman expressed his appreciation for the patience and steadfastness of the victims' families, affirming their right to know the fate of their loved ones. He emphasized the Authority's continued work until the names are returned to their rightful owners.

In a related development, investigation results revealed that the death toll from the Darna floods reached 4,540, including 3,964 Libyans and 576 foreigners. The number of bodies recovered and reburied in the Al-Fatih cemetery reached approximately 3,779.
