Al-Baour participates in the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New York.

New York, September 26, 2025 (LANA) - Taher Al-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, participated yesterday, Thursday, in the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York.

The meeting was attended by the UN Secretary-General, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and foreign ministers from several Arab, African, and European countries.

In his address to the meeting, Al-Baour emphasized that he represents the voice of the Libyan people, who yearn for peace, stability, and development after years of crises that have impacted state institutions, the lives of citizens, and the region.

Al-Baour emphasized that comprehensive political solutions, respect for national sovereignty, and support for national dialogue are the best way to overcome crises and achieve sustainable stability.

He noted that Libya, due to its geographical location at the heart of the Mediterranean, serves as a bridge between Africa and Europe, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation on issues such as migration, counterterrorism, food security, and climate change.

He also emphasized the need to strengthen partnerships between North and South countries by supporting development efforts, technology transfer, and facilitating investment in infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of reforming the international financial and economic system to make it more just and inclusive.

Al-Baour expressed Libya's readiness to cooperate with its regional and international partners to build a more balanced, peaceful, and development-oriented world, reiterating Libya's commitment to supporting the G20's efforts to enhance multilateral cooperation and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The meeting focused on the needs of the African continent and discussed the issue of compensating African countries for historical exploitation and colonial plunder by Western countries, in addition to addressing global challenges and supporting greater democracy at the United Nations for the benefit of the majority of countries worldwide.
