Dabaiba follows up with the head of the Judicial Police Department on plans to take over prisons.

Tripoli, September 25, 2025 (LANA) - Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, stressed that reforming the Judicial Police Service and restoring it to the state is not a fleeting campaign, but rather a consistent national path to restore justice and consolidate the rule of law.

This came during his meeting on Thursday with the head of the Judicial Police Service, Major General Abdel Fattah Daboub, to follow up on the service's progress and determine its priorities for the coming period.

Dabaiba stressed the need to lift injustice from all those whose freedom was deprived outside the framework of the law and to hold accountable all those involved in violations, according to the Prime Minister's media office.

The Prime Minister indicated that the service must remain a tool for protecting justice and preserving human dignity. He also emphasized the need to purge it of any elements tainted by links to gangs, militias, or the commission of crimes. This will ensure that previous practices that have harmed the reputation of correctional and rehabilitation institutions are not repeated, and will enhance the confidence of the state and society in this sensitive service.

During the meeting, Major General Daboub presented a position on the work of the committee formed, comprising members of the Judicial Police Service, tasked with taking over the prisons located at the Maitiga base and the Ain Zara area. He explained the progress of the measures taken and the support required to ensure the success of the operation.

The meeting also discussed plans to improve performance and enhance administrative discipline within the Service's departments and branches, contributing to improving the level of work and achieving more effective results.

It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 637 of 2025, appointing Major General Abdel Fattah Daboub as Head of the Judicial Police Service.
