Zawiya Oil Refining Company lifts state of emergency after clashes resolve

Zawiya, September 24, 2025 (LANA) - The Zawiya Oil Refining Company announced the lifting of the state of emergency, following the return of calm to the vicinity of the oil complex and the dispersal of armed clashes that occurred near the complex in the city of Zawiya on Wednesday.
The company reiterated the seriousness of the recurrence of such incidents, as they pose a direct threat to lives and property, and the potential grave risks they pose to oil facilities, which are a valuable asset to the Libyan people.
The company called on all parties to prevail and exercise common sense and wisdom, and to keep the oil complex and vital facilities away from any armed conflicts or disputes, to preserve the safety of workers and residents of the surrounding areas, and to ensure the continued safe and stable operation of the facility.
