Tripoli, September 24, 2025 (LANA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity expressed its satisfaction with the international developments related to the recognition of the Palestinian state by most countries, considering it a historic victory for the Palestinian people in establishing their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, within the borders of June 4, 1967.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed these courageous political positions, which expressed the solidarity of these countries and their response to the cries and suffering of thousands of Palestinian mothers, children, and men who have suffered and continue to suffer from the scourge of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, which has killed and displaced thousands of Palestinians, in addition to the siege and starvation policy imposed by the Israeli entity on Gaza.
The statement indicated that this step represents a significant historical development toward achieving justice and international legitimacy, embodying the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state in which they can live with dignity. Through this right, they can realize their aspirations and hopes for a state of law, justice, and democracy, and contribute, along with the international community, to achieving the global peace and security that all states aspire to, in accordance with the principles of the United Nations and international conventions.
The statement called on states that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to follow suit and accelerate practical steps that would strengthen the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state capable of exercising its natural rights as an internationally recognized state, establishing diplomatic relations with all states, and attending international forums as a fully sovereign state.
