Al-Baour meets with the Spanish Foreign Minister

New York, September 24, 2025 (LANA) - Taher Al-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, met yesterday at the United Nations Headquarters with Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
During the meeting, Al-Baour praised the distinguished bilateral relations between Libya and Spain, stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields to serve the interests of the friendly Libyan and Spanish peoples.
He also highly valued Spain's supportive stance on the Palestinian cause, stressing that these positions reflect the convergence of Libya and Spain's visions aimed at ending conflicts and establishing the foundations of regional security and stability.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of current regional and international issues of common interest and exchanged views on ways to mitigate the irregular migration crisis.
The two sides discussed developments in the political and security landscape in Libya, the efforts of the Government of National Unity to enhance security, stability, and development, and the steps it has taken to unify national institutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue consultations on regional and international issues of common interest and to coordinate positions in multilateral forums.
