New York, 24 September 2025 (Lana) The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed AL-Menfi, discussed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the latest political and security developments in Libya.

This came during a meeting held yesterday at the headquarters of the Turkish Mission in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

The communication office of AL-Menfi stated that during the meeting they exchanged views on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between both countries and mechanisms for developing strategic relations to serve common interests and enhance stability and development in Libya and the region.

The office added that president Erdoğan commended Al-Menfi’s role and efforts to find ways out of the current crisis, particularly his recent efforts to de-escalate the situation in Tripoli and his oversight of the security committees working to ensure that no new conflicts that would undermine the current state of stability erupt.

The Turkish president also affirmed his country's ongoing efforts to ensure Libya's unity, unify its institutions, and end the current division.

For his part, Al-Menfi commended President Erdoğan's role and his personal and Turkish efforts to support Libya's stability and the pivotal role it plays in Islamic and international issues, most notably the Palestinian issue.

In the conclusion, the two sides agreed to continue meetings and direct consultations and to work to support political, economic, and security efforts in the interests of Libya and its sovereignty.
