The meeting was held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in an official statement that the meeting comes within the framework of ongoing consultations between Cairo and Washington on developments in regional issues, in light of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
