The Ministry of local government is discussing with the Development Fund mechanisms to accelerate the implementation of prefabricated housing units

Tripoli, September 22, 2025 (LANA) – Acting Minister of Local Government, Abdul Shafie Al-Juwaifi, discussed on Monday with officials from the Economic and Social Development Fund and the Libyan Development and Investment Holding Company, in the presence of relevant ministry departments, mechanisms for accelerating the implementation of the prefabricated housing units project in a number of targeted municipalities.

The meeting witnessed a detailed discussion of the actual number of available housing units and trailers, as well as a review of the mechanisms for installation and implementation on the ground, and ways to overcome logistical and technical challenges that may hinder the progress of work.

The meeting also included a visual presentation detailing the project, in terms of design, areas, and targeted geographic locations for installation, ensuring implementation complies with approved technical standards.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached on the distribution of tasks and responsibilities among the participating parties. The Ministry, the Development Fund, and the Holding Company will undertake transportation, installation, and technical supervision operations, according to a specific timetable that ensures the completion of the first phase on target.

The attendees emphasized the need to begin installing the first batch of housing units immediately, following the Ministry's receipt of the timeline from the supplier company for official approval. They emphasized the importance of joint coordination, intensified field efforts, and monitoring developments to ensure the success of this vital project.
