Discussions on resuming consular work at the British Embassy in Tripoli.

Tripoli, September 21, 2025 (LANA) – Abu Bakr Ibrahim al-Tawil, Director of the European Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, discussed on Sunday with Ben Rawlings, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Libya, ways to support and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

The ministry stated on its official page that the meeting was held on the occasion of Rawlings assuming his duties as Deputy Ambassador, and within the framework of following up on the recommendations approved during the meeting between the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa at the British Foreign Office, which was held in Tripoli on July 14.

The ministry explained that among these recommendations: resuming the work of the consular section at the British Embassy in Tripoli, with the aim of overcoming the difficulties facing Libyan citizens wishing to obtain British visas, in addition to lifting the ban on Libyan civil aviation.

During the meeting, Ben Rawlings confirmed that the British Embassy in Tripoli is making strenuous efforts in this regard.
