The Congolese President and the UN Envoy discuss the latest political and security developments in Libya.

Brazzaville, September 19, 2025 (LANA) – Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, Chair of the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya, received the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Libya, Hannah Tetteh, yesterday, Thursday, in the capital, Brazzaville.
The meeting discussed the latest political and security developments in Libya, in addition to discussing ways to support and implement the roadmap presented by the Special Representative to the Security Council on August 21.
According to what the UN mission posted on its account on the "X" platform on Friday, the discussions also focused on the importance of unifying efforts between the United Nations and the African Union to ensure the success of the national reconciliation process, through an approach that places victims at the heart of the process, as they are an essential element within the comprehensive national dialogue process.
For her part, the Special Representative expressed her appreciation to President Sassou Nguesso for his continued commitment to cooperating with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and all Libyan parties to ensure the success of the national reconciliation process. She also commended his role in supporting Libya's transition to unified and legitimate institutions through elections.
