Benghazi, September 16, 2025 (LANA) – The city of Benghazi is hosting the first annual Arab Media Conference over three days, with broad participation from a number of media professionals and academics from various Arab countries. This step aims to advance Arab media dialogue and exchange expertise on ways to develop this sector.

The first dialogue session of the conference program began on Monday. A scientific session titled "Media: From Challenges to Establishment" was held in the conference hall. Moderated by media professional Hiba Haidari, the session featured Ibrahim Hadiya Al-Majbri, Director General of the Libyan News Agency, Mahmoud Al-Bousifi, and author Salem Al-Hindawi.

The session addressed the most prominent challenges facing Arab media institutions since their inception, with a presentation of successful media experiences that overcame obstacles and played an effective role in consolidating awareness and achieving societal stability.

Speaking about developing Libyan media, Al-Majbri emphasized the need to provide clear and fair funding, free from any external agendas. He emphasized the importance of regulating the sector and activating trade union frameworks to protect journalists' rights and facilitate their work.

For his part, Al-Bousifi pointed to the Egyptian experience as one of the most prominent Arab experiences that can be leveraged to develop the media landscape, without neglecting the experiences of other countries that have successfully overcome their media crises.

Al-Hindawi believed that the crises that have swept the Arab region have provided media professionals with valuable experience that must be leveraged to overcome current challenges. He emphasized that Arab media is capable of fulfilling its role despite the surrounding circumstances.

The conference continues its work over two more days, including dialogue sessions and intellectual lectures that discuss the future of Arab media in light of regional and international transformations.
